Meals
Besides numerous restaurants within walking distance from university premises, students can purchase meals in various places within the university - there is a café, a bar, a small store and a restaurant. On top of that, the students are entitled to a subsidized meal program. These meals are sold in student's canteens (menza), there is typically one such canteen at every VSE location, but students can make use of other such facilities (operated by different universities) throughout Prague or even other cities in the Czech Republic.
The VSE runs 3 canteens: the Italská menza (Italská 5, 130 00 Praha 3), the Jarov Menza (Jeseniova 208, 130 00 Praha 3), and the Jindoichuv Hradec Menza (Janderova 190/II, 377 01 Jindoichuv Hradec). In some of them, breakfasts and dinners are offered as well.
Insurance
The UEP does not provide any medical or health instance for any of its students, nor does it vouch for any medical expenses incurred by any of its students. It is the sole responsibility of students to take out instance according to their preference and the rules of their countries of residence.
Medical facilities
After taking out local health care instance in Czech Republic, students can visit almost all medical facilities in Czech Republic, which are numerous especially in Prague.
Besides these, the University of Economics has some special contracted facilities near or in the hostels that students can visit should they not be willing to make their own choice. These include:

Special needs student facilities
Special needs students can take advantage of the Centre for Handicapped Students (SHS) established as a part of the UEP, providing its help and assistance to students with physical disability, who would find their health handicap making their university studies extremely difficult or impossible. Predominantly, the handicaps that the Centre deals with are sight, hearing, or movement impairment.
It is the effort of the SHS to offer such opportunities to cope with individual handicaps so that the level of achieved university education would not suffer; and through compensation tools and approaches to provide the students in question the chance to graduate with the same dispositions as all other students. The handicapped students then have the same qualification as their healthy peers, and their ability to lead normal work life, as well as their employability or prerequisites to become an employer, increases.
A specially equipped study room situated in the new building in Žižkov is at handicapped students' disposal, room 35b (first hallway on the left from the entrance, on left side in the middle of the hallway is the entrance to the room). The students may use compensation equipment to work with any text, use the Internet to search for information, or just enjoy their spare time in the study room on workdays from 9.00 to 18.00 (on Fridays until 15.00).
Students with sight handicap
Except for the use of special equipment for work with PC or written text it is made possible for the sight impaired students to convert text information into digital form and further to transform them into MP3 format. This enables the students to work with any text without having to be present at the computer.
Students with hearing disability
Depending on the degree of their handicap, the hearing impaired students have an induction loop at their disposal in large auditoriums. For deaf students, an interpreter into Czech sign language can be arranged for after agreement. The interpretation into sign language can also be arranged for other occasions such as an exam, a test, or consultation hours.
Students with movement or combined disability
In addition to handicapped accessible buildings, SHS offers an option to arrange for personal assistance to students with movement disability.
It is also possible to agree on attendance of one of the sport activities offered by Centre of Physical Education and Sport (CTVS) which could be suitable for a handicapped student under individual conditions throughout the studies.
For prospective students
Prospective handicapped students who would prefer or require that conditions of the admission process were adjusted individually to their handicap should accompany their application with a medical report supplement containing the handicap specification. Based on this supplemented application the student will be offered a mock exam, where the student will be made familiar with the form of the admission exam and the environment where it will be carried out; and will learn what conditions or compensation equipment he or she will need.

Financial support for students
Besides financial support that follows from the particular exchange program (waived tuition, accommodation support etc.), the faculties (schools) of UEP offer various kinds of stipends for different merits. Typically, there are academic scholarships awarded for excellent grade average, and special need scholarships offered to students in financial or other distress.
Apart from scholarships, the many kinds of competitions and contests organized by different departments may also become an important source of financial assistance.
Student affairs office
Each faculty of the UEP has its own student affairs office and so do the exchange students. This specialized office - International Studies Centre (OSC)- can be found on the 5th floor of the Paradise Bulding (Rajská budova) at Žižkov. The coordinators there are ready to help with most problems students can encounter, and will of course handle all most study agenda and paperwork.

Study facilities
All main premises of UEP offer places mode for and congenial to studying, namely libraries, study rooms or computer labs.
There are libraries in all three main locations of UEP where classes are held: the Library Žižkov, Study Library Jižní Misto and the Library of the Faculty of Management Jindoichuv Hradec. Details can be found at http://ciks.vse.cz/Default-en.aspx.
The central and the largest library in the UEP library network is the Library Žižkov. It is located in the UEP area in Žižkov, in the mezzanine of the old building. Besides loan services, the library offers vast resources for on-site studying: newspapers, magazines, statistical yearbooks, dictionaries, encyclopaedias etc. in many languages. This library also features three specialized study rooms: Pavel Eisler Library (international relations and European Union related resources), European Documentation Centre (official EU released materials) and Mediatheca (a multimedia reading room with resources aimed in particular at funding, banking and accounting, and containing publications issued by the World Bank, IMF, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Czech National Bank).
Attractive places to study are also located throughout all university buildings. The numerous retreats along the hallways offer wired internet connection and comfortable seats. Wireless internet is available on almost everywhere.
The computer labs are situated both as parts of the libraries and separately. Namely, in the Old Building at Žižkov, the computer labs occupy almost the whole ground floor and the same section of the first, second and partly the third floor. The access to these computer labs is mostly restricted to university students or associates.
International programmes
Besides exchange programmes, the UEP offers currently four full international programmes.
CEMS MIM
The Master's Programme in International Management is a full-time two-year academic training programme for students at bachelor level with interests and career intentions in international companies and international environment. The programme provides students with a comprehensive business education in the main fields of economics, management, finance, marketing, cross-cultural communication and negotiations. The Programme is organized by the Faculty of Business Administration and is fully run in English.
The starting point of the Programme is CEMS MIM covering mostly the first year of studies. With regard to its interdisciplinary character also teachers from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, the Faculty of International Relationships and the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics take an active part in delivering the Programme. Students will just as well have many opportunities to enroll into courses where visiting professors are invited to participate. An indispensible part of the studies is a semester spent abroad at a CEMS partner university.
IB
International Business - Central European Business Realities is a two-year (four semesters) full-time Master's Program taught in English.
The program was established to address the specificities and characteristics of the Central European business environment within the framework of the increasing trends of globalization. It provides students with a comprehensive business education in the main fields of economics, management, finance, marketing and negotiations. The best ten students are offered the possibility to fulfill part of their study obligations at the University of Lyon Business & Management School (France) or at the University of Applied Science in Mainz (Germany) and to obtain graduate degrees (a double degree) from both the Czech and the host universities.
M.A. Economics of International Trade and EU Integration
The M.A. Economics of International Trade and European Integration is an academic training programme for economists with interests and career intentions in these or related areas. The programme involves the study of economics and its applications at an advanced level.
The total programme consists of 60 ECTS credits, the taught part of the programme consisting of 43 credits and the dissertation of 17 credits. The language of the programme is English. The students on the programme will be part of an international group throughout their studies.
CESP
The Central and East European Studies Program (CESP) was founded in 1992 as an optional one or two semester program held in English for students at graduate and undergraduate levels. The program focuses on issues of Central and East European economies, societies and cultures. The program encounters the past, present and future developments of privatization, the restructuring of national economies, newly created political structures and other international areas of study. Subject areas include language, management, law, history, culture, politics, trade practices, and economies of the vanguard countries, mainly the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. There are also studies concerning the states of the former Soviet Union, and the program is further enriched with field study tours and cultural activities.
Practical information for students
Students, coming from abroad, are typically in need of different information tha local students. A useful handbook for foreign students- essentially and extension and detailed version of this guide - is available at http://buddy.vse.cz/web/sites/default/files/BBB_webBS.pdf. It features everything from the detailed description of the trip from main transport hubs to the dorms to some useful Czech phrases.
Language courses
There are multitudes of language courses at UEP. Mobile students will, however, be interested mostly in courses in Czech language. There is a list of such courses in order of the level of accomplishment. Details of the courses can be found in the course catalogue.
2RU131 Elementary Czech for Foreigners

Internships
Depending on the particular programme, students are offered internships, both as part of their curricula, or as extra-curricular activity, with various institutions of their interest. The UEP cooperates with a great number of both private companies (banks, manufacturers etc.) and public agencies (ministries, regulatory bodies etc.) that make it likely for everyone to succeed in the search for the right internship.
Sport facilities
As one of the largest universities in the Czech Republic, the UEP offers correspondingly extensive possibilities of sport activities for its students. The Centre for physical education and sports (CTVS) is coordinating sessions in some 20+ activities (ranging from swimming, to canoeing to fencing). The gym, fitness club and sauna at Žižkov are available upon booking. For recreational and sport purposes, the UEP own some country side properties, available upon booking, which allow visitors to engage in some outdoor exercises or adventures.
Extra-mural and leisure activities
Every year the students hold a large number of specialist, cultural, sporting and other events. These student activities are supplemented by regularly published student periodicals, one of which also has its own Internet online version.
Specialist seminars, debates and conferences are organised in the school not only in the sphere of management, finance, politics, etc., but also on various topical themes. These events are also attended by research workers and specialists with practice. The students also have the possibility to acquire, often in an interesting form, new theoretical and practical knowledge over and above the tuition framework and they may also participate in the organisation of these events.
The supplementing of studies in questions of environmental protection and sustainable development is ensured by the branch of the international student organisation active in universities specialising in economics - OIKOS Prague.
The branch of the largest international student organisation AIESEC offers students annual conferences and the arrangement of practical experience.
International student stays and projects are ensured, among other things, by the Prague branch of AEGEE in the VŠE. The stays of foreign students in the Czech Republic are arranged also by the Buddy System, which ensures each foreign student a guide in the form of a Czech student. Such guides thus have the opportunity to improve and get to know foreign languages, acquire new contacts abroad and become acquainted with another culture.
Students also have the opportunity for wide sporting activity. They may devote their spare time to such sports as canoeing, ice hockey, volleyball or squash. Sports tournaments are also organised every year.
In the sphere of culture the students organise stage performances and film shows. The school also has a folklore group, a choir and a chamber orchestra.
Apart from professional, Cultural or sporting events the students can also play board games, including chess, regularly or attend travel talks.
Student associations
The VSE support all kinds of formal and informal associations. Their list would include, for instance:
