The Centre for European Studies

The Centre for European Studies (CES) of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) as an inter-disciplinary multi-purpose institution serving education, research, counselling and information is concerned with European problems in the sphere of economics, political science, law, history, culture and languages. CES is integrated with the PHARE projects, it is a partner of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and a member of the Czech Association for European Studies. Within the framework of VŠE it perpetuates close cooperation with the Club of Young Europeans and the Research Centre for the Integration of the Czech Republic into the European economy. It strives to develop existing study programmes and various subjects concerned with European themes, it exerts efforts to gain foreign and local grants, it organizes various functions for the academics and students at VŠE, as well as for professionals and laymen among the general public (conferences, lectures, discussions, seminars, etc.).

CES also arranges days to observe "each of the EU countries", takes a share in the grant programme Gracesd and the scholarship programme Spaces, assures certificate courses for "European Studies" and publishes a journal "Contemporary Europe and the Czech Republic".
