Institute for Economic and Ecological Policy (IEEP)

The Institute for Economic and Ecological Policy, (IEEP), was established to serve as an institution for counselling and educating with a view to dealing with problems concerned with economic, ecological, agrarian and regional politics. It should serve as an inter-disciplinary institute assuring conditions for the cooperation of experts in a broad spectrum of different fields, in enterprises and state administration and self-governing bodies.

IEEP shares in arranging seminars on topical problems concerning economic theories and economic policies in cooperation with the Department of Economic Policy of the Faculty of Economics and Public Administration of VŠE.

In conjunction with the Centre for Regional and Administrative Sciences of VŠE the IEEP assured the elaboration of the Plan for National Development for the Czech Republic as a fundamental document to be used by the EU structural funds.

In 1999 the Institute was particularly concerned with projects focussed on an analysis of the impact of proposed legislative changes and the instruments of an economic policy (environmental protection tax, the bill on refuse disposal, an amendment to the law on packaging). Emphasis was placed on the development of decision-making and devising models to support these analyses.
