Institute of Health Services Management

The Institute of Health Services Management, IMZS, serves a dual purpose, notable to teach and to undertake research at the Faculty of Management, of VŠE in the area of the management of health services. The Institute was established in 1996 as a Resource Centre to promote the management programme for health services in collaboration with the University in Nevada and the American International Health Alliance (AIHA) whereby the American partners provided the necessary technical support.

Currently, the Institute is responsible for the tuition of students specializing in the management of health services. It is also engaged in research projects to optimize regional hospital structures for which it has obtained an IGA grant from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and from the Austrian AKTION agency. Moreover, the Institute is also active in other areas.

The Institute is a member of AUPHA (American University Program of Health Associations) on behalf of the Faculty of Management, VŠE, and has been awarded a government grant by AIHA to enable manager training for the health service. IMZS also exerts efforts to arrange commercial courses for managers in the health service and is currently preparing postgraduate courses for members of the public with relevant professional leanings.
