International Research

In the area of international research, the VŠE is oriented mainly on cooperation within the EU Research Framework Programme.

In the 5th Framework Programme the VŠE participated or participates, for example, in:

  • SOL-EU-NET: Data Mining and Decision Support for Business Competitiveness: Solomon European Virtual Enterprise (coordinator: Forschungszentrum Informations-technologie GmbH, Germany )

  • COMETR: Competitiveness Effects of Environmental Tax Reforms (coordinator: National Environmental Research Institute, Denmark )
  • M-CAST: Multilingual Content Aggregation System based on TRUST Search Engine (coordinator: Infovide , Poland )
  • MILUNET: Intensive Land Use in Europe (coordinator: Habiforum Expert Network for Multiple Land and Space Use , Netherlands )

Other projects with international participation are:

  • Generic Training System for Officials of Territorial Self Governing Bodies (PHARE)
  • Indicators of Effectiveness of the Muni-cipality's Financing Comparison between the Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovenia (in cooperation with the University of Lubljana , Slovenia )
  • TARSKI: Theory and Applications of Relational Structures as Knowledge Instruments (COST Action 274)
  • MIXMODE: Distribution Mixture Models for Pattern Recognition and Image Processing (in cooperation with the University of Hokkaido , Japan)

Publications

Academics at the University of Economics , Prague publish roughly one thousand titles annually - articles in magazines, contributions at conferences, scripts and monographs. The academics' publishing activities are monitored long term with the help of the VŠE's publishing database.

The own Publishing House "Oeconomica" issues textbooks, scientific and study books and three economic journals and magazines:

Politická ekonomie is the Czech scientific journal covering the basic economic research documented in Social Sciences Citation Index, Current Contents/Social and Behavioral Sciences, ISI Alerting Services, Social Scisearch and in the electronic EconLit index. It offers articles and analytical studies by both Czech and foreign authors oriented on economic theory, economic policy, econometrics, modelling and comparative analyses of economic systems as well as on the topical issues concerning the transformation process, international scientific life and new economic literature.

Prague Economic Papers is the scientific quarterly journal dealing with economic theory and Czech economic policy published in English. It offers articles and analytical studies to provide experts abroad with the information concerning the evolution of economic theory as well as actual problems of the transformation, scientific life and new economic literature published in Czech Republic . It is accepted for inclusion in the electronic EconLit index.

Acta oeconomica Pragensia is a scientific publication. It contains scientific and research papers in economics and related fields which have been elaborated by VŠE faculties. VŠE publishes about ten collections of works every year.
