| Abstrakt: | Tato práce analyzuje operaci Artemis v Demokratické republice Kongo a schopnosti EU zasahovat i v budoucnosti v podobných operacích. Práce je z hlediska kontinuity a lepšího pochopení tématu rozdělena na tři části -- v první části je popsáno historické pozadí konfliktu v 90. letech směřující ke spuštění operace Artemis. V části druhé je uvedena již samotná analýza operace Artemis, její vojenské, humanitární faktory, její výsledky. Ve třetí části je popsán vývoj Společné zahraniční a bezpečnostní politiky Evropské unie a její vývoj v návaznosti na operaci Artemis jakožto první vojenské operace EU mimo evropské území. Nabídnuty jsou zde i názory odborníků na operaci a její význam pro formující se Evropskou bezpečnostní a obrannou politiku. |

| Abstrakt: | This thesis is about operation Artemis in the Democratic Republic of Congo and about the ability of EU to interfere in similar operations in future. For sake of continuity and to better communicate the theme, the thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part the historical background of the conflict is described (from the nineties to the start up of the operation Artemis). In the second part there is an analysis of the operation Artemis itself -- its military and humanitarian factors and its results. The third part of the thesis discusses the development of Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union and its development regarding the consequences of operation Artemis as the first out-of-the-area military mission of the EU. Views of experts on the operation and its importance for the forming of European Security and Defence Policy are also proposed. |
