| Abstrakt: | Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem kulturní inteligence a snaží se odpovědět na otázku, zdali existuje vztah mezi studiem cizích jazyků a kulturní inteligencí. První teoretická část je věnována rešerši literatury v oblasti odlišnosti kultur, jejich měření, kulturní inteligence a některých dalších teorií, například z oblasti cizích jazyků a jejich osvojování. Následuje metodologická část, ve které je detailně popsán způsob práce s daty v rámci navrženého výzkumu. V této části jsou také definovány hypotézy, jejichž platnost ověřuje poslední praktická část práce. Statistické vyhodnocení pomocí Spearmanova koeficientu pořadové korelace v praktické části odhalilo, že existuje pozitivní vztah mezi cizími jazyky (např. jejich počtem či úrovní) a kulturní inteligencí, a to na hladině významnosti 95 % s p-hodnotou menší než 0,1 % (0,001). Závěrem práce je stručně navržen způsob, kterým by dané téma šlo dále zkoumat, a odhalit tak například kauzalitu mezi danými proměnnými. |

| Abstrakt: | This Master’s thesis deals with the topic of foreign cultures and aims to find a relationship between foreign language acquisition and cultural intelligence. The first, theoretical part, deals with literature review which focuses on different theories in the field of foreign cultures, how to measure them, cultural intelligence and some other theories related to foreign language acquisition. The second part shows the approach towards the research conducted later in this thesis. Four hypotheses are also defined in this part. The last, practical part, concerns the research itself and tests the defined hypotheses. Hypothesis testing using Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient revealed that there is a positive relationship between foreign language acquisition and cultural intelligence on a confidence level of 95 % with a p-value less then 0,1 % (0,001). At the end, the text of this Master’s thesis outlines possible future directions of how to reveal more about this topic, especially with regard to causality. |
