| Abstrakt: | Diplomová práce se zabývá komparací zahraniční politiky Woodrowa Wilsona a Franklina Delano Roosevelta. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je porovnat působení Wilsona a Roosevelta v mezinárodních vztazích a jejich přístupu k vytvoření mezinárodní organizace. Výzkumnou otázkou této práce je, jaké byly shodné a rozdílné znaky zahraniční politiky presidenta W. Wilsona a F. D. Roosevelta? Diplomová práce se nesoustředí jen na zahraniční politiku obou presidentů, ale také na vznik a vývoj Společnosti národů, následně na její selhání a vznik Organizace spojených národů, která je založená na podobných principech a hodnotách jako Společnost národů. Tato diplomová práce je zpracovaná formou komparace. Kritéria komparace jsou následující: situace ve Spojených státech před vypuknutím první a druhé světové války, situace ve světě před vypuknutím obou světových válek, rozdělení účastníků konfliktů do válčících bloků, okolnosti vedoucí ke vstupu Spojených států do válek, situace ve světě po ukončení obou světových válek a situace ve Spojených státech po ukončení první a druhé světové války. Jelikož jsou oba presidenti považováni za přívržence liberální teorie mezinárodních vztahů, zabývá se teoretická část práce právě touto teorií. Pro následnou analýzu je taktéž nutné definovat jednotlivce jako tvůrce zahraniční politiky a definovat meze a možnosti presidenta Spojených států amerických. V empirické části se práce zabývá výchozí situací před první a druhou světovou válkou, vypuknutím obou světových válek a reakcí USA na jejich vypuknutí. Následně se práce zabývá komparací zahraniční politiky obou presidentů. Oba presidenti měli rozhodující vliv na poválečné uspořádání světa skrze mezinárodní organizace Společnost národů a Organizace spojených národů. |

| Abstrakt: | This master thesis focuses on the comparison of foreign politics of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The main aim of this master thesis is to compare the influence Wilson and Roosevelt had on international relations and to compare their approach to the establishment of an international organization. The research question of this master thesis is: "What were the identical and different features of foreign policitics of W. Wilson and F. D. Roosevelt?". This master thesis focuses not only on the foreign policies of the two presidents, but also on the creation and development of the League of Nations. Furthermore, on its failure and establishment of the United Nations, which are based on similar principles and values as the League of Nations. The method used for this master thesis is comparison, and it is based on the following criteria: the situation in the United States before the outbreak of World War I and World War II, the situation in the world before the outbreak of the world wars, the division of the participating countries into blocks and coalitions, the circumstances leading the United States into the wars, the situation in the United States after the end of the World War I and World War II, and the situation in the world after the end of the world wars. Both presidents are considered to be adherents of the liberal theory in international relations. Therefore, the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on this theory. For deeper analysis, it is also necessary to define the role of an individual in the creation of foreign politics and to define the limits and possibilities of the President of the United States of America. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on the initial situation before World War I and World War II started, the outbreak of the world wars and the reaction of the USA towards it. Moreover, the thesis deals with the comparison of foreign politics of both presidents. Both presidents had decisive influence on the post-war order of the world through the creation of the League of Nations and the United Nations. |
