Zelený konsumerismus a styly psychické obrany

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the topic of green consumerism and psychological defense mechanisms. The main goal of the thesis was to determine whether the attitude of young people to the natural environment and their pro-environmental behaviour differ from that of the general Czech population. In the theoretical framework the definitions for the key words such as green consumerism and psychological defense mechanisms are given, the differences between green consumerism and sustainable consumption are described, as well as individual psychological defense mechanisms and the possible evolution of maladaptive strategies into adaptive ones. The findings from the theoretical framework were utilized as foundation for the practical part of this thesis in which a survey has been carried out. The results of this survey were then compared with a survey of public opinion. According to the research of this bachelor’s thesis, there seems to be a difference in the attitude of young people to the natural environment and their pro-environmental behaviour in some areas compared to that of the general Czech population, the interpretation of these results and the conclusion can be found in the final part of this thesis.
