Abstract: The paper describes process of electricity market liberalization, and concentrates on one phase - unbundling. First part sums up findings on electricity market liberalization, and explains unbundling principles, initial situation and expected outcome. In the second part unbundling costs are analyzed and in the third part, fulfillment of unbundling targets and its contribution to improve end-customer's position are assessed. The authors arrived to conclusion that unbundling contributed to decrease electricity end-price for households in the 2005 - 2008 period, despite substantial unbundling costs. However other factors, such as demand increase and electricity price convergence between the Czech Republic and Germany, were much stronger and caused substantial electricity price increase in the examined period. This method eliminates the drawbacks of classical exponential smoothing and secures sufficient stock levels during order lead time period. The disadvantage of Croston's method is the fact that it solves only the question of the reorder point but does not solve the problem of restocking delivery volume and the mechanism of ordering. The questions are how to refill stocks and what level of restocking deliveries to implement in order to secure economic efficiency while still maintaining demanded service levels. One of the promising ways of solving stated problems is to apply the dynamic simulation method. The aim of this article is to introduce sporadic demand product stock management method based on dynamic simulation, which would offer simple and easily interpretable answers on basic questions connected to effective stock management. Hence, a process of continuous improvement is to be an inherent part of firm management. In case this process shall be implemented on a broad basis with the aim to maintain and increase firm competitiveness, then this process must be approached in a system and systematic way. An implementation of a suitable system of performance assessment based on a comprehensive TQM model seems to be an appropriate instrument for that. However, it is of vital importance the diagnostic approach to be preferred within the performance assessment when aiming at maintenance and strengthening the competitiveness. Such an attitude to performance assessment enables an assessment of processes and systematic factors in relation to identified lacks in firm performance in a more qualified way. In this respect, the authors of the paper refer to the conclusions of Conti and present a framework algorithm for diagnostic firm self-assessment based on notorious Deming´s PDSA cycle (Plan - Do - Study - Act). At the same time, in the paper there are specified basic activities that should be realized within single phases of firm self-assessment cycle. In general, the paper deals also with some firm self-assessment success factors. By attempting to identify the main differences in body image perception within two culturally different backgrounds (the US and China), this paper examines the relationship between the way consumers perceive (ideal) body image in a particular culture, and the product categories advertised in media helping consumers achieve the ideal body image. Furthermore, these findings enable us to examine the impact of body image parameters on consumer behavior in respective countries. Analysis also shows an emerging trend of cultural convergence and increasing influence of Western ideal body image in such a traditional culture as China.
