2nd edition of Czechia Through Foreign Eyes exhibition and VSE Farewell
In the Spring Semester of 2024/25 Prague University of Economics and Business organized the second edition of the photography competition “Czechia Through Foreign Eyes”. The contest was open to all international students enrolled in both Czech and English study programs, as well as to the incoming exchange students.
With international students making up over 25% of the university’s student body and nearly 1,000 exchange students joining us every year, we are proud to support the university’s international sphere and showcase how our international students perceive Czechia.
Over 80 photographs were submitted, and the top 33 are currently on display in the atrium of the Likešová Auditorium. The exhibition commenced on May 12, 2025, and will continue until May 30, 2025. We cordially invite everyone to come and see the exhibition.
The submitted photographs underwent evaluation by both the VSE International Office and fellow students through an online voting. The winning entries were announced during the award ceremony held on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The winners are:
- 1st Place – Weronika Szumska (Poland) – “Architecture of Thought”, Academy of Sciences Library, Prague
- 2nd Place -Robin Sauer (Germany) – “Prague Shines Beyond the Wall”, Prague Castle, Prague
- 2nd Place Dijin David Thomas (India) – “No two goodbyes are the same, but this one burns: the sun’s sacred ritual with Prague”
- 3rd place Illia Kaminskyi (Ukraine) – “Holy Light”, Saint Wenceslas Cathedral, Olomouc
Photo of Dijin David Thomas – “No two goodbyes are the same, but this one burn: the sun’s sacred ritual with Prague” was also chosen as the best one by the International Office vote.
We are happy that the competition was a success this year, and we look forward to the next year and the participation of our international students. The official announcement of the photo competition was followed by the informal event “VSE Farewell”, organized by the International Office to say goodbye to our exchange and degree students at the end of their studies at VSE. We hope that this pilot year will continue and will be widely attended by students in the future.
