A record number of international students starting Fall semester 2025 at VSE

It is with great pleasure that Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE) welcomes 458 incoming Exchange students representing 54 countries and 732 Degree-seeking students from 80 countries in Fall semester 2025. This marks the highest number of newly arrived international students in the university’s history, underscoring VSE’s growing role as a hub of international academic exchange.

Before the classes start, students met their fellows on the VSE campus for the first time to follow a series of structured and engaging activities throughout the Orientation Week. The programme included essential administrative sessions, introductory lectures and interactive workshops designed to support students to smoothly start their life and study at VSE.

Participants gained insight into Czech history and culture, explored the concept of Culture shock and strategies for managing it and also had a chance to acquire basic language skills through a Czech language crash course. To further support their integration into a multicultural academic environment, students attended a workshop on Intercultural competences.

In addition, a Team game took place at the end of the Orientation week to help students discover the VSE campus, its facilities and services in a playful way.

As traditionally, Welcome Ceremony for Exchange students was held in the Vencovského Auditorium. Apart from the official welcome they enjoyed a folk dance and music performance by the university’s Gaudeamus folklore ensemble. Degree-seeking students were welcomed by their faculties.

At the same time, ESN VSE Prague student organization supports social integration by organizing a variety of events to foster students’ adaptation to a new academic and cultural environment. Many local students also participate in ESN as Buddies, supporting international students often even before their arrival in Prague, but especially after they arrive and throughout their entire stay.
