Rector announces a selection procedure to appoint a Director of the Center for Information and Library Services
The University of Economics in Prague is the largest public university of economics in the Czech Republic, offering bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and MBA programs at six faculties. Among other awards, in 2024 it became the first university in the Czech Republic to receive AACSB international accreditation. The faculties have obtained other prestigious international accreditations, including EQUIS, EMOS, FIBAA, CAMBAS, and ACCA.
The Center for Information and Library Services is a specialized workplace under the Higher Education Act. It is part of the national library system as a specialized library for economics and social sciences. provides public information and library services in accordance with the Library Act, serves as the central library, and primarily ensures the information security of the educational, scientific, and development activities of the University of Economics in the scope given by the profile of study programs, specializations, and scientific research programs of the University of Economics. It collects, processes, stores, and manages library and information resources in traditional, electronic, and digitized form, and makes them available and promotes them to users through information and library services. It makes printed and electronic library collections accessible and promotes them through lending or bibliographic and information activities, interlibrary and international lending services. It cooperates with libraries, information centers, and other entities within the national library system and abroad, and manages the website of the University of Economics in Prague.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an innovative director with an overview of tertiary education, the ability to lead a team of approximately 30 employees, and represent the Center for Information and Library Services both within the university and externally. The main task will be to manage the Center for Information and Library Services, ensure its main activities as listed in the header of this advertisement, and respond to changing conditions in the higher education sector.
What do we require?
- A master’s degree.
- Organizational skills, managerial skills, and the ability to lead a team.
- At least 5 years of professional experience and knowledge of trends in tertiary education.
- Communication skills and the ability to present CIKS results both within VŠE and externally.
- Very good knowledge of English.
- Integrity.
