International Photo Contest in Spring Semester 2026 Showcases Student Perspectives

In the Spring Semester of the academic year 2025/2026, the International Office of the Prague University of Economics and Business (VSE) organized the third edition of its photography contest for VSE international students. The competition was open to students enrolled in both Czech and English taught degree programs, as well as to incoming Exchange students. The theme of this year’s contest was “Joy of Discovery”.

International students represent more than 25% of the VSE student population, with approximately 800 Exchange students arriving each year from VSE partner universities. The competition aims to support the international student community and to present how international students perceive Czechia during their studies at VSE.

Exhibition of Selected Photographs

30 photographs were selected for exhibition and are currently displayed in the atrium of the Likešova Auditorium. The exhibition opened on April 30, 2026, and will be accessible to the public throughout the month of May. We cordially invite everyone to come and see the exhibition.

Evaluation and Results

The submitted photographs were evaluated by the VSE International Office and through online voting by students. The winners were announced during an award ceremony held on Thursday, May 6, 2026.

The awarded entries are:

1st place – Jonas Oscar Jokinen, Exchange student from LUT University (Finland), “You Get What You Give”

2nd place – Sopiko Papashvili, Exchange student from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (Georgia), “Way Above”

3rd place – Lourdes Tardillo, IBB degree student from Argentina, “Capturing the Golden Hour at the Feet of Jan Žižka”

The Students’ Choice Award was also presented to Lourdes Tardillo for her photograph “Prague’s Golden Rooftops.”

Accompanying Event: VSE Farewell

The award ceremony was followed by the informal event “VSE Farewell,” organized by the International Office. The event provided an opportunity to say goodbye to Exchange students coming from 46 countries to study at VSE this semester.
