Visiting professors at UEP

6 Dec
2007

In 2007 UEP has offered to its students in sum 64 courses taught by visiting professors from abroad.

The involvement of important academics from abroad is an essential presumption for increasing the quality of education and real internationalization of the university. In order to achieve this target, the UEP has used the support of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport’s development project.

The aim of the university management was to strengthen the offer of block education (intensive courses), most often in the form of obligatory or facultative courses taught mainly by foreign teachers.

The biggest advantage is the possibility to use our network of more than 110 partner universities from around the world. In 2007, at UEP there have been teaching professors from 16 different countries.

There is a lot of interest for visiting professors from the side of Czech as well as foreign students. Students have an opportunity to get familiar with different didactic approaches and to work in international teams. The education is mostly led in English, French or German. In 2007 the first course in Russian was organized. The possibility to study in a foreign language led by a visiting professor has been used in total by approximately 1600 students.

The participation of visiting professors also represents a useful form of international cooperation for particular departments of UEP. In addition to the development project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the UEP uses the support of a European program called Erasmus Life Long Learning Programme. This program supports the exchange of teachers and it enables UEP teachers to teach at foreign universities. Instruction by French professors at the French – Czech Institute of Management is financed by the French Embassy in Prague. In addition to contributing by teaching, visiting professors add to the development in the field of research and science.
