Master in Information Systems Management (ISM)

ISM is a two-year English-taught master´s degree programme newly available at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics (FIS) of VŠE. The study programme is for anyone aiming at a career as an IT manager, project manager, information system auditor, knowledge engineer, business analyst or consultant, either in the private or the public sector.

ISM Curriculum

To successfully complete the whole curriculum (120 ECTS credits), it is necessary to take eight compulsory courses (for 49 ECTS), several elective courses (for 26 ECTS), a minor specialization (several courses totalling 30 ECTS), two state exams (9ECTS) and prepare a master´s thesis (6ECTS).

The key areas of study represent a carefully balanced blend of technology- and management- oriented subjects related to IS/ ICT management, enterprise IT, business process engineering and optimization, project management, information systems audit and data mining.

Within the minor specialization, student can choose to focus on business and management issues or on insurance mathematics.

There is also an optional study abroad component: the third ISM semester can be completed at a university abroad, usually within the VŠE exchange programme.

Applications for 2016/17

Those interested in starting ISM in September 2016 need to submit their application by 29 February or by 30 April 2016. Applicants have to be ready to complete an online application, pay a fee of 50 EUR and send a set of documents, including e.g. a transcript of records, proof of English language knowledge, CV and a motivation letter.

The next stage of the admission process will be a long-distance exam consisting of writing an essay on a given IT-related topic and returning it per e-mail.

Tuition fee

As in the case of most of international programmes at VŠE, the ISM tuition fee is 1 800 EUR/semester.
