Econometrics

Econometrics is a discipline which is concerned with the construction, empirical verification and practical application of econometric models in order to analyze the relationships between economic variables, and to make predictions based on the findings. In econometrics, the mathematical and statistical methods are irreplaceable. Econometric analysis is based on statistical data of an economic nature, whose sources are, in particular, the national statistical offices and central banks. The results of empirical econometric analyses are important and efficient support materials for decision-making at government level, in financial institutions, as well as in manufacturing enterprises. Professor M. Hashem Pesaran is the world’s leading authority in the field of econometrics. He has published more than 170 works in leading international journals. His work has also been published in 13 books. According to the news agency Thomson Reuters, Professor Pesaran currently ranks among the most important economists in the world.
