Summer Schools at VŠE

This summer, International Office of the University of Economics, Prague, organizes two summer schools. Another summer school is organized within the CESP program and two summer schools for international students led by the Faculty of International relations also take place this summer at VŠE.

The first one is a four-week program (mid-May to mid- June) for 42 bachelor degree students from Arizona State University. The program has been organized for eleven years now and its main focus is International Business. Program includes lectures by VŠE lecturers from the Faculty of International Relations, and several field trips (Škoda Auto, a.s., Crystal Bohemia glass factory, AVAST Software s.r.o., etc.)

Second summer school (organized for the eighth time) is a four-week program (June 4th – July 7th) for McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. This year the program will be divided into two groups – one group is focused on accounting and second group has an organisational behaviour as its major. Both are taught by VŠE lecturers together with American professors accompanying their 30 and 40 students. In addition to the classes, field trips and lectures by business specialists are included.

Within the CESP framework, a Summer University takes place too. It offers intensive versions of basic CESP courses. The courses taught in English include business practicalities, business communication and culture. The term consists of four courses offered and students can choose to study one to three of them.

Summer University 2016 offers the following courses:

  • Entrepreneurship,
  • International Marketing Communications with an Emphasis on Central Europe,
  • European Cultural History and Its Impact on Central Europe,
  • International Business in the Global Environment.

The Faculty of International relations organizes three summer schools for international students. First summer school is called Summer University Prague 2016 and takes place from 4th till 31st July. It is designed for 34 students and taught fully in English.

A four-week summer school taught in Spanish “International Relations between Latin America and the European Union” is separated into 3 terms: the first is in June 2016 for 57 Mexican students, and the second and third are in July 2016, one for 57 Mexican students and the other for 32 Colombian and 5 Brazilian students. Two courses are taught within this summer school: Trade relations between Latin America and the European Union and International Trade and International Policy.

Courses are taught by VŠE lecturers as well as by visiting professors (e.g. from the University of Oxford) and include several field trips (Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, NANOPROGRES, z.s.p.o., Škoda Auto, a.s., Pilsner Urquell Brewery, etc.).
