The AACSB International is an association which provides internationally recognized “Business Accreditation”. However, it takes a couple of years to get this prestigious accreditation. The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) became a member of the AACSB International in February 2015.

In August, 2016, the Initial Accreditation Committee voted to accept the Eligibility Application, thus allowing VŠE to enter the business accreditation process. In September the VŠE was officially informed of this positive decision.

As part of the accreditation process, an AACSB volunteer will be appointed as mentor to the school. The mentor will assist VŠE in responding to any concerns raised in the review of the Eligibility Application, as well as in helping to determine the scope of accreditation. The mentor also helps to guide the school in formulating the Self Evaluation Report.

Professor Stephanie Morgan, the Associate Dean for Education, from the Kingston Business School in London, has been appointed as accreditation mentor to VŠE. “I am very glad that our Eligibility Application has been processed in a rapid and positive manner,” says the Rector of the VŠE Professor Hana Machková. “We have paid lot of attention to the preparation of the Eligibility Application. The report had over 40 pages and we had to prove, that VŠE has the human resources, as well as the sufficient facilities which may serve as a base for strategic development. I am also glad that AACSB will provide us with such a skilled mentor as Professor Stephanie Morgan, from a prestigious British school. At the Annual Conference in Milan I had the opportunity to attend her presentation and I am certain that she is one of the leading experts in the field of the international accreditation.”

Since placing the acquisition of an international institutional accreditation in its strategic plan, the VSE, in the years to come, will endeavour to obtain the AACSB accreditation. This will enhance the university’s great name abroad, but also increase the quality of its management processes, as well as the education which the school provides.

AACSB International was established in 1916. As the longest serving global association dedicated to advancing management education worldwide, the AACSB has accredited, and continues to accredit, 775 of the world’s best business schools across 52 countries and territories. Among the holders of the AACSB International “Business Accreditation” are, for example, Harvard Business School; HEC School of Management, Paris; London Business School; School of Management, Yale University and Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), which was accredited last year.
