2016

The networking event of the year, CEMS Annual Events 2016, took place on November 30 – December 4, 2016 in Stockholm. The Annual Events are organized on a rotating basis by 30 member schools. This year the 28th CEMS Annual Events has been hosted by Stockholm School of Economics.

During these days, over 2.000 members of the whole CEMS family gathered in one place – graduates of 30 CEMS partner universities and their relatives and schoolmates, board members, executives, academic staff, corporate partners and alumni. VŠE was represented by: prof. Hana Machková (Rector, Strategic Board Member), prof. Jaroslava Durčáková (Rector in 2000 – 2006, founder of the CEMS MIM Programme at VŠE), Zdena Pošvicová (Language Committee Member), Jiří Hnilica (Vice-President for International Relations and IS, Executive Board Member), Ladislav Tyll (Academic Director), Klára Vítečková (Programme and Corporate Relations Manager) and Šárka Otčenášková (Corporate Relations and Communications Manager).

The Annual Events are the highlight of the CEMS year. They represent an exceptional opportunity to bring together the entire CEMS community for meetings, discussions, decision-makings and formal announcements. This year the companies Bayer, Citic Bank, Dentsu Aegis, E.ON Innhouse Consulting, Gartner, Hyundai Motor Company, Longshine Technologies, Microsoft, Simon&Kutcher, Tsinghua Unigroup and ZEB have been announced as new corporate members.

The program was full of Executive Board Meeting, Academic Directors Meeting, MBC Steering Committee, Programme Managers Meeting, Communication Directors Meeting, Corporate Partners Meeting and Student Board Meeting. Evenings were dedicated to the networking events where further useful relations are established. This year the CEMS Chair professor Andrea Sironi from Italian Bocconi University passed his function on the professor Eugènia Bieto from the Spanish ESADE.

The peak of the event is a graduation of CEMS MIM students which was held on December 3 in the Ericsson Globe and Annexet. The Ericsson Globe, built in 1989, is the world’s largest spherical building. A symbol both for Stockholm and Sweden, this arena has hosted many major events during the past decades. Together with its accompanying arena Annexet, the Ericsson Globe was the location for CEMS graduation ceremony. From almost 1.300 CEMS students, who have finished their studies recently, almost 850 CEMS graduates came to Stockholm. VŠE has been represented by 39 students from the amount of 48, who have completed their CEMS MIM degree recently.
