Orientation Week for international students

Orientation Week (shortly Oweek), which takes place from February 6th till February 12th 2017, is organized for all international incoming students during one week prior beginning of each semester. Generally, students get familiar with the University, city and culture. They gain necessary information for their start at the University of Economics, Prague and in the Czech Republic.

The Orientation Week is highly recommended to all International students. The International Office encourages students to participate in this event in order to get essential information about the University of Economics, Prague.

First day is known as a Registration Day, students are asked to come to the University with their Buddy to register and pick up important documents. In the afternoon, the lectures concerning introduction of the University and InSIS (University Information System) as well as collection of Mobility documents (Learning Agreements, Confirmation of Arrival) are organized. Later in the afternoon, students are invited to the Welcome Ceremony in Vencovského Aula with a foreword of VSE Rector.

Second day contains lecture about Cultural Shock – How to Survive and how to survive it. This year there will be special course of the Czech Language. Moreover, you can accept an invitation to the party Nation2Nation organized by Buddy System in the evening.

Third day is devoted to the Team Game during which you can meet your new schoolmates. Team Game is played with Buddies and other international students in the university campus. The second part of the day contains a lecture about the Cultural History of Czech Lands. In the evening students can attend voluntary event Buddy Café Lingea organized by Buddy System in Globe Café.

Rest of the week is directed by Buddy System Student Organisation which offers many trips and cultural events so that students can get to know each other and have some fun. The registration to the Buddy System takes place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This year we have divided the programme into two separate programmes.

The general programme for Erasmus+ students is for students whose home university is located in the EU, Albania, Norway, Turkey and Switzerland: Erasmus+ students.

The programme for Overseas students is for students whose home university is located in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine and the United States: Overseas students.
