A worldwide evaluation of the international importance of business schools has been completed as part of the EDUNIVERSAL project. The University of Economics, Prague occupies the first position in the Czech Republic and achieved the top credit of “5 Palmes” for universal influence within its field.

EDUNIVERSAL is the worldwide project of French consulting firm SMBG which has focused on the field of higher education. The project is an answer to the growing internationalisation of education, and notably offers an information platform in a comparison of the 1 000 best business schools worldwide.

It allows students to choose the best institution given their career and means; it helps firms identify the best institutions where they can hire the talents they need. In addition, it allows universities to attract new foreign students and teachers.

The 1 000 schools have been chosen by an International Scientific Committee composed of nine independent experts, representing the nine geographic academic zones into which the schools are divided (Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia and Middle East, Far Asia, Latin America, North America, Oceania, Western Europe).

The evaluation is done according to very precise criteria such as: the international influence and reputation of the school, the quality of the teaching programs, the quality of the teachers, the accreditations and labels received by the schools, the state recognition, results in the main rankings or their participation in different international associations. The result is a symbolic award of so-called Palmes (the school can be awarded a maximum of 5 Palmes). They emphasize the level of international influence of every school, and they give a clear idea of the position of each school inside the official evaluation, as well as in its country, geographic zone or even on an international scale.

5 Palmes Universal Influence
4 Palmes International Influence
3 Palmes Strong Regional Influence
2 Palmes Strong Local Influence and/or with privileged continental links
1 Palme National Influence

In this evaluation, the UEP has been awarded all 5 Palmes, which places it among the “universal business schools with major international influence”.

The schools are evaluated not only by the International Scientific Committee but also by representatives of other schools included in the official selection. In this evaluation system, the UEP was awarded a Recommendation Rate of 423 per 1 000, and thus occupies the first position among the business schools in the Czech Republic.

A similar rating was also achieved by many of UEP’s foreign partner universities, e.g. Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Austria), Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Helsinki School of Economics (Finland), HEC Paris, ESCP-EAP, E. M. Lyon, Sciences PO Paris (France), Universita Commerciale "Luigi Bocconi" di Milano (Italy), RSM Erasmus University, Tilburg University (The Netherlands), ESADE Barcelona (Spain), Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden), Universität St. Gallen (Switzerland), London School of Economics (United Kingdom), McGill University (Canada), ITESM – EGADE (Mexico), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Seoul National University (South Korea) and others.
