The President of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) has received a decision from the European Commission about receiving the prestigious "ECTS Label" and "DS Label" awards.

The "ECTS Label" is awarded for the correct implementation of the European credit system in all bachelor and master programmes. The "DS Label" certificate is awarded for issuing Diploma Supplements to all graduates.

The aim of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is support of study at universities abroad. The ECTS simplifies both recognition and transfer of study results by means of credit transfer. It is one of the crucial features of the European Higher Education Area. The Diploma Supplement is issued in English. In fact, it is a list of courses passed by students during the course of their study, including study results. Such a document simplifies the recognition of courses completed abroad.

For the period of 2009-2013, seven Czech universities in total applied for the ECTS Label Certificate, as well as 21 universities for the DS Label. Under the lead of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs doc. RNDr. Felix Koschin, CSc., all faculties of the VŠE, together with the International Studies Centre, participated in preparation of documentation for the application for both certificates. For the first time in history, two Czech universities – VŠE and VUT Brno – succeeded in being awarded the ECTS Label. The prestige and difficulty of receiving the award is also proven by the fact that, until now, only 31 European universities in total have received it. The DS Label certificate regarding the correct use of the supplement was awarded to 15 Czech universities.
