2011

The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) was awarded as the best business school in Central and Eastern Europe for the fourth year in a row. In the Eduniversal ranking, the university received the highest number of palms – five – which symbolizes the development of its internationalization.

Within the framework of its 4th annual conference – “Eduniversal World Convention 2011” – the prize was announced at a gala evening in Shanghai, China. The award for the “Top 3 Best Business Schools” from nine different regions of the world is a result of a vote by deans and university presidents from prestigious universities. In the region of Central and Eastern Europe, besides naming VŠE, two Russian universities were awarded for the first time.  The award for VŠE was accepted by Jakub Fischer, the university’s Vice-President for Strategy.

The schools are divided, according to geography, into nine world zones: Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia and Middle East, Far Eastern Asia, Latin America, North America, Oceania and Western Europe. The aim of this award is to acknowledge the school with the best results in internationalization. The selection of the thousand schools included into the ranking is made by an International Scientific Committee of independent experts. Schools can get the ranking of one to five “Palm Awards” according to the votes of the deans and presidents of the selected schools and to the internationalization criteria. Only the 100 most successful schools can be awarded in the category “Universal Business School” symbolized by five palms; this is independent of the region in which they are located.
