Celebrating 25th Anniversary of Erasmus Programme
From Tuesday, May 8 to Friday, May 13, 2012, there will be events organized at VŠE to celebrate 25h anniversary of the most successful student exchange programme in the world.
The Erasmus programme was founded in 1987. Since then, almost 3 million of students have had the opportunity to study or work abroad. Currently, there are 33 member countries within the Erasmus framework – EU member countries together with Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. In the academic year 2011/2012, more than 250 thousand of students took part in the programme´s student exchange. Besides the student exchange, the programme focuses on teaching and university staff mobility that manage the programme administration at the universities. Since 2007, the student internships have been promoted by Erasmus. More than 150 thousand of students have taken part in the internships programme since than.
The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) has an extensive partner universities´ network abroad. The university participates in all activities within the programme. Currently, there are approximately 350 outgoing students of the university per year within Erasmus (out of 600 VŠE outgoing students in total). For instance, in 2011, the amount of more than CZK 17 million was earmarked for Erasmus scholarships. Within the programme framework, VŠE academic staff gave lectures at the partner universities more than 30 times. .
