In academic year 2013/2014, the Faculty of Economics will offer courses within this programme, entirely taught in English. ECON is a full-time study programme with a standard 3-year length of study. The information meeting will take place on January, 17th, 2013.

The main objective of the programme is to create qualified, professional economists who will be competitive in terms of employment in the public and private sectors internationally. These professionals will have a strong base in economics, legal sciences and other social sciences with an emphasis on international economics and politics. They will gain a practical knowledge of English through constant, applicable use. With a sufficient and varied base, graduates will be able to respond to the ever-changing and increasingly demanding requirements of businesses and the labour market, both nationally and internationally. The course is aimed at talented local and foreign students who want, above all, to continue into master’s programmes and disciplines that are taught in English at VŠE, as well as students who want to continue in their studies abroad. Students have the opportunity to study in a diverse group, meeting students from different countries. Even this socio-cultural aspect is enriching for the students.

Courses: Fundamentals of Accounting, Marketing and Business Economics, Mathematics for Economists, Economic Propedeutics, Writing Skills, Economics, Microeconomics I, Macroeconomics I, Public Sector Economics, Introduction to Economic and Social Policy, Introduction to Law and Economics, Introduction to Game Theory, Discussion Seminar, Labour Seminar, Applied Quantitative Methods I, Chapters from Economic Policy, Economics of Transformation, Economics of Vice, Disputes in monetary theory, Economics and Psychology, etc.

Admission Requirements: Completed secondary education, an essay in English on a given economic topic – in long distance exam form, application fee (EUR 50), motivation letter, statement of English language proficiency if applicable, and recognition of secondary school leaving certificate if applicable. The programme tuition fee is 1800 EUR per semester.
