Exchange students study at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) throughout the academic year; however, demand to study here is so high that summer school programs – lasting from several days to several weeks – are required too. The highest demand originates from American and French partner universities.

The summer school by VŠE for partner Arizona State University has been organized for the past eight years. It is focused on the field of International Business. In 2013, 30 bachelor degree students are participating in this four-week program from mid-May to mid- June. Besides the teaching taking place at VŠE by lecturers from the Faculty of International Relations, the program includes field trips to Škoda Auto, a.s., Radio Free Europe, Václav Havel Airport Prague and lectures by business specialist from Česká spořitelna and KPMG.

Another summer school by VŠE, i.e. the International Studies Center in particular, is organized for the fifth time for the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. This four-week summer school program started on 3 June 2013. It is focused on the field of accounting, and is taught by VŠE lecturers together with American professors accompanying their 35 students. In addition to the classes, field trips and lectures by business specialists are included as well as field trips to Český Krumlov and Pilsen.

The longest running summer school is linked to CESP (Central and East European Study Program). This university department offers to individual students a five-week summer program of accredited courses. CESP Summer University will start 13 June 2013. Forty-five students from seven countries such as Morocco, Vietnam and Spain, with USA and France being the most represented countries, will participate.

The French-Czech Institute of Management offers to a partner university Université Paris 1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne, IAE de Paris three specialized seminars. The first group Master HR spent a week study stay focusing on human resources, the second MBA group on international entrepreneurship and the third DISTECH group will study the topic of distribution in the Czech Republic. All seminars include both theory and business related practices by managers of VŠE partner companies (Česká spořitelna, Komerční banka, L´Oréal, Plzeňský Prazdroj and Škoda Auto).

All foreign students will have an opportunity to study the basics of Czech language at VŠE in an Erasmus Intensive Language Course (EILC) from 5 August to 23 August 2013. The Czech language teaching will take place in small groups of students. It is designated for foreign students that will study in the exchange program at any Czech university in fall semester of academic year 2013/2014.
