Success of IM/CEMS students in the final round of KPMG International Case Competition

Four CEMS Programme (International Management Programme) students left at the end of March to represent Czech Republic on the international finals of the KPMG International Case Competition in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. There the four participants, Johana Adámková, Jan Rajchert, Jakub Ratislav and Diana Stašková, competed against 23 other national teams for the title of the winner of this prestigious event.

The competition was focused on solving case studies and subsequent presentations to the jury that represented a client of a consulting company. During four days, the students solved two case studies. The third and final case was solved by the top three selected teams. The topics of the cases varied from ticketing problems on the London Olympic Games to the issues of a shale gas company performing hydraulic fracturing in Poland.
Czech team accomplished to finish on a shared 4th place and the contestants that made it to the finals were the teams of France, USA, and Australia. The Australians then became the winners of the competition for the year 2014. Czech team was accompanied by the auditor partner Pavel Závitkovský and Marie Křivánková from the HR department of the KPMG Czech republic.„We would personally recommend this experience to everyone.“ Commented the competing students: „Just taking part in the national round has taught us a lot and both KPMG Czech Republic and our school were extremely supportive.“

The students were lead in their training by ing. Helena Hrůzová from the Department of Management. „Mentoring provided by Mrs. Hrůzová proved to be invaluable during the competition. We were able to achieve the 4th place thanks to things we learned during our training.“

The next KPMG International Case Competition will take place in Dubai in 2015.
