EIASM Academic Council Meeting 2019

The 2019 EIASM Academic Council meeting held on September 23 – 24 in Prague, hosted by VŠE, University of Economics, Prague. The annual meeting of the EIASM Academic Council was an opportunity to bring representatives of the EIASM Member Schools and Universities together to share and develop key issues of relevance to advanced studies in management. The agenda for the 2019 meeting focused on the Future of Responsible & Sustainable Governance and Management of Business Research and PhD Education.

Doctoral Education has been central to the mission of the EIASM. EDEN seminars (the EIASM’s Doctoral Education Network) and EIASM workshops and conferences have been at the forefront in helping doctoral students and faculties to enquire at the frontiers of management research,” explains Jerome Chabanne-Rive, EIASM Executive Director. For example in 1988-2019, more than 7,000 graduate students were involved in EDEN with support of more than 400 scientists.

Integrity and relevance for sustainability in Management research, Responsible Science with impacts for stakeholders, University Governance for Sustainability, Public Value as well as Sustainable Research and PhD Education were the topics discussed by the EIASM Board members and Academic Council representatives. They also planned specific activities to enhance the experience and impacts of Doctoral Education and Advanced Studies in Management.

End of the meeting was dedicated to the 3rd EIASM Interdisciplinary Leader Award, handed over to Prof. Peter J. Buckley, Leeds University Business School. Prof Buckley, a special guest of the Academic Council meeting, gave a speech on Interdisciplinary research – The example of International Business.
