Medal for heroism in memoriam for a student Marek Frauwitrh

On Friday, 28 October, the President of the Republic awarded the Medal for Heroism to Ing. Mark Frauwirth, who was a student of the university, which today’s Prague University of Economics and Business refers to. The Prague University of Economics and Busieness will keep the medal safe.

Marek Frauwirth was a Slovak Jew and activist who moved to Prague in 1932 to study. Despite the 1939 riots, he remained in Prague and was actively involved in issuing false exit documents for Jews and resistance fighters. Under the code name “Ing. Marek”, he illegally issued 2216 exit passports at the Slovak consulate in Prague. He was executed on 17 November 1939.
