Study two-year Master in Information Systems Management

The University of Economics, Prague offers 10 Master’s programmes. We are introducing all of them on the website during February and March. The Open House Day of Master’s Programmes taught in English will be held in Rajská Building/Rajská budova (RB) on Wednesday, March 13, 2019.

Information Systems Management (ISM) is a two-year English-taught Master´s Degree Program available at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics (FIS) of VŠE. The study program is for anyone aiming at a career as an IT manager, project manager, information system auditor, knowledge engineer, business analyst or consultant, either in the private or the public sector.

Reasons why to study the ISM program

  1. Unemployment rate of graduates of our faculty is less then 0,9%.
  2. Our graduates have the highest starting salary of all VŠE alumni.
  3. The ISM program is the 6th best program in the field of Information Systems Management in the Eastern Europe according to the Eduniversal Ranking.

ISM Curriculum

To successfully complete the whole curriculum (120 ECTS credits), it is necessary to take eight compulsory courses (for 48 ECTS), several elective courses (for 27 ECTS), a minor specialization (several courses totalling 30 ECTS), two state exams (9 ECTS) and prepare a master´s thesis (6 ECTS).

The key areas of study represent a carefully balanced blend of technology- and management- oriented subjects related to IS/ ICT management, enterprise IT, business process engineering and optimization, project management, information systems audit and data mining.

Within the minor specialization, student can choose to focus on consulting, marketing, economic data analysis or on insurance mathematics.
There is also an optional study abroad component: the third ISM semester can be completed at a university abroad, usually within the VŠE exchange programme.

Applications for 2019/20

Those interested in starting ISM in September 2019 need to submit their application by April 30, 2019. Applicants have to be ready to complete an online application, pay a fee of 50 EUR and send a set of documents, including e.g. a transcript of records, proof of English language knowledge, CV and a motivation letter.
The next stage of the admission process will be a long-distance exam consisting of writing an essay on a given IT-related topic and returning it per e-mail.

Tuition fee

As in the case of most of international programmes at VŠE, the ISM tuition fee is 3.800 EUR/academic year.
