Innovation Week 8.-10. 11.

Innovation Week continued in its second half with another series of lectures and conferences on 8. – 10. November. Here are some selected talks from these days:

On Wednesday, the Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan graced the VŠE with their visit in a debate on “Innovation and Connectivity in ASEAN and Japan”. The discussion focused on the importance of Southeast and East Asia for the Czech economy, ASEAN’s cooperation with Japan and, above all, the importance of innovation and the development of modern connectivity.

The second half of the week was dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI). On Thursday, two conferences on this topic took place. While the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics looked at AI through the eyes of their developers at their conference “Artificial Intelligence between Training Data and Human Knowledge”, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting focused on the use of AI in the financial sector during the “Czech Corporate Finance Forum”.

Both conferences offered an interesting perspective on the current situation and the future of artificial intelligence. Experts from various fields such as Ondřej Dušek, Luděk Šafář, David Vopelka, Luděk Kopáček and others offered their views on trends in AI, its applications and ethical aspects related to its deployment. They discussed how AI is transforming the industry, changing financial services and what it means for future job markets.

But there were other interesting topics at Innovation Week as well. Both Kateřina Marešová’s talk and the one by Richard Stiebitz covered the topic of marketing, how to take care of a brand and how to create an interesting marketing campaign. Dr. Barbara Kolmová also visited VŠE and in two lectures and discussions with students she addressed the impact of state interventions on the market environment and scientific progress.

The second half of the Innovation Week also brought interesting lectures from experts and professionals from various fields, which certainly managed to inspire and broaden the horizons of all the students and lecturers present.
