US Ambassador Bijan Sabet opened the Innovation Week at the Prague University of Economics and Business

The Ambassador of the United States of America Bijan Sabet opened the Innovation Week at the VŠE with his lecture and subsequent discussion with students in the Vencovský Auditorium. The students completely filled the auditorium and welcomed the opportunity to ask the Ambassador questions about anything. The topics covered included transatlantic cooperation, Czech-American relations, the current situation in Israel and Ukraine, and the influence of governments on the development of artificial intelligence. The Ambassador brought an interesting perspective to these topics, not in part because he was a successful investor in many industries prior to his diplomatic career. The Vencovsky Auditorium was fully packed and the Ambassador’s lecture was a great success.

The lecture was followed by a meeting between the Ambassador and the management of the VŠE. The main topic discussed was the support of exchange students between the Czech Republic and the USA. Mr. Ambassador was pleasantly surprised by the extent of cooperation between VŠE and American universities. At the VŠE we cooperate with 17 American universities, in 2022 we admitted a total of 235 students from American universities and we sent 71 of our students to the USA. In its modern history, the Prague University of Economics and Business has awarded honorary doctorates to a total of 13 Americans, and in 5 cases they were Nobel Prize winners.
