Success of the VŠE students at the Universiade of Italian Language.

The Prague University of Economics and Business hosted the Italian Language Universiade, a competition for students studying Italian as a foreign language, on 1 and 2 February 2024. This unique project, organized in collaboration with ANILS (Associazione Nazionale degli Insegnanti di Lingua Straniera) and under the auspices of the Embassy of the Italian Republic, the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague and the Società Dante Alighieri, attracted students from different universities who competed in Italian language skills at six levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) from A1 to C2.

The first day of the competition, Thursday 1 February, was dedicated to tests covering listening, reading, written and oral parts, as well as morphosyntax. On the second day, Friday 2 February, in addition to the awards for the best in each level, workshops for students and teachers and a conference on “Italian and sustainability” were held.

The awards ceremony was well attended, including the Ambassador of Italy to the Czech Republic, Mauro Marsili, and the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Assoc. Ing. Martina Jiránková, Ph.D. Their presence added to the solemnity of the event and emphasized the importance of intercultural dialogue and education.

Among the award-winning students from the VŠE, the following were outstanding:

Anna Grabherr won 3rd place in the C1 category.
In the B1 category, Anna Hrdinova took first place, followed by Nikita Shuvatov in second place.
In A2 category Aleksandra Stolbunsky won.
In the A1 category, Filip Forró took first place, followed by Natalia Paschke in second place and Hana Mahelyova in third place.

This event not only provided students and teachers with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and skills in the Italian language, but also brought inspiration and new perspectives in the field of sustainability and language teaching. The University is proud of its students who have placed in this prestigious competition and demonstrated a high level of their language skills.
